Error x80042406 on Recovery
Hi there, the HDD that I boot from seems to have become unreliable over the last week and yesterday Windows kept on crashing.
As Windows wouldn't boot up I decided the that the best approach was to recover to a system image from a week or so ago from an external HDD.
When I do a system recovery (from the recovery DVD), it finds the system image fine but then when attempting to recover the image I get the error:
"A data disk is currently set as active in BIOS. Set some other disk as active or use the DiskPart utility to clean the data disk, and then retry the restore operation. (0x80042406)"
The only information I can find about this is from: Complete PC Restore Error 0x80042406 - Microsoft Community
I haven't attempted either of the options yet, but I'd like to understand the reason and possible resolutions better.
Is the "data disk" the external HDD with my recovery image on, or is it the disk that I'm trying to recover to?
I've restored the image previously (several times in act as I had a very dodgy Seagate hybrid disk which failed) - and I've never seen this error before?
Any help really appreciated!
