Laptop says consider replacing your battery?

As title says "consider replacing your battery"

From last 2 days when i installed a new windows 7 i am encountering a problem with my battery.

The battery icon at the right hand side bottom displays a cross sign on it which also says "Plugged in Charging, consider replacing your battery"

Before installing the windows my battery was working perfectly with approximately 1 hour backup....really cant understand what went wrong suddenly and now i am getting this warning.

Anyone encountered the same issue or is there any measures to be taken to rectify this ??
Your answers/suggestions are highly appreciated and i would be very thankful..

In the bios or boot menu look for a battery reset or conditioning feature. It takes a good long time but this can make the lappy and it's battery realign it's discharge meter and give you back a true reading.

it will be saying this because your battery is not performing the way it should eg:it discharges too fast
