Thumb drive not recognized in two of three ports

Hello, I have an Acer 5230E-2177 which has a usb port in back that if I plug in my thumb drive I can get all my files. But if I plug into either of the usb ports on left side nothing happens. Went to Device Management by way of Computer:Manage, and only three drives show up usually which are: Recovery Partition, Acer C: , System Reserved Also, when I look at drives in Computer I get C: and D: (DVD) and if I plug in the thumb drive into back USB I get E:. So why don't the two USB ports on side work? Thanks

Hi Welcome to Seven Forums ... Do other Devices work on the other USB Ports ? Do you get any errors when using the Thumb Drive in these ports ?

Hi Maxie, I only have three usb ports on my laptop. The thumb drive works just fine on back usb one but nothing on the side two which may be a usb 2.0 (maybe) because when I plug the thumb drive in back it says there is a faster usb to plug into. I just unplugged my wired mouse and plugged into one of side ports. A notice popped up if I can remember which said wasn't recognized or driver not installed. So I tried updating driver in Driver Manager. Didn't work. Then I uninstalled driver and rebooted and still says USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED When I plug in thumb drive into side port, I get no notice of wrong driver or Device not recognized. Thanks

Hi Maxie, There was a yellow triangle with exclamation when the mouse was plugged in. Not when thumb drive plugged in. USB ports are not blue. Thanks. When I plugged mouse into the back usb port the yellow exclamation went away.
