    Windows 7 Pixelated Screen Problem

Hey everyone, I have an interesting problem.

I am not sure if it is a hardware or software, so please move to the appropriate forum if necessary.

A while back, I downloaded the Windows 7 RC 7100 build and did a fresh install from XP. Everything worked fine except for when I would log on or off, or I would use certain popups through control panel or anything, my entire monitor would have black squares pop up like it was pixelated or shattered. I thought it was a RC problem.

I recently just bought and installed a Windows 7 Home 64 bit OEM and it is doing the same thing. I've attatched a picture of what it looks like when I run a pop up through my control panel (In this case, the windows computer assesment thing). The screen does the same thing when I log on or off still. I have a Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS AGP and yes, I have updated the driver for Win7 64bit. Any help would be great!!!

    Thanks!

    JB

Quick question: when you downloaded the latest drivers, did you use Windows Update or did you download them directly from the manufacturer's site?

Downloaded from the manufacture's (nVidia) website. Windows update never found a new driver for my video card.

Try something real quick: go into Device Manager, right click on your video card, and select "uninstall".
Reboot your computer, and let Windows automatically install the drivers. Let us know how it works out!

Ok, so after I uninstalled it and it restarted, the log on and off screen looked normal. But after windows installed the driver NVIDIA GeFroce 7600 GS (Microsoft Corporation WDDM), I restarted it and the log on screen went back to being pixelated and looking shattered.

hmm... that's funny. Try this: uninstall all drivers, and immediately run the installer package you downloaded from nVidia.

It actually did not let me install it because I did not have a current driver installed. So I reverted back to what windows installed, then installed the nVidia one and it is still doing the same thing and actually now, when the desktop loads, the screen goes black, then back to normal.

Funny... I don't know what to tell you, other than that I am sorry it is happening.

Could it have anything to do with Direct X or any other kind of graphics things?

I am the wrong person to ask. My best guess has to do with the drivers.
