Dell M1710 Laptop - System Freezes Applying External Power

So, if my system is working fine on the power supply and I disconnect it to run on battery, this works fine... but when I plug the laptop back in, the system locks up. Any ideas?

*Bump*
I have the exact same problem, when I installed the Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium on my Dell Inspiron 6400 there were no problems connecting the external power.

But since a couple of weeks the current software I'm using wil freeze, and nesxt the mouse pointer will stop working.

I cant recall any changes that I've made to the system when this happend..

Hope you have a solution to this problem
