Fairly new Toshiba laptop (C55Dt-A5231) lacking performance. Advice?

    they make microsoft office for mac =) so there's no compatability issues there. as well as boot camp allowing you to dual boot with windows.

    and dont worry I HATE iphones.. so im in the same boat.
    my macbook is 4 years old, and can still handle anything I throw at it, even cad software. the only thing it cant do is play modern games. still dable in some counter strike source when on long journeys though!!

    My 2 cents worth mate having bit to do with Toshibas ( I have two and done fixes) I find that getting rid of the Toshibas bloat ware is by far and away the best way of making them better.
    I always use this for getting better results out of them too
    Optimize Windows 7 using the SSD of course requires a reinstall but that is what I have in both of mine and if you want to go down that track then you can use this
    Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

    The bottom line is like the others have pointed out the components are holding you back a bit.
