Screen is black at start-up, before there were blue streaks.

Blue lines are on my screen and I can't see the picture. Now after a month of this at start-up the screen is black, but I can hear windows start-up sound in the background. Anyone know why it's doing this?

    Thanks,

    J

    Assuming its a laptop...

Have you tried connecting another monitor to it to see if you get a picture?

If you hold a light up to the screen, can you see anything on it (faint picture)?

Have you tried putting pressure on the laptop and around the frame of the screen in multiple places to see if it responds?

Your screen could be dead or have a bad connection. It would be helpful to know if you have tried these things first.

    Hey,

Thanks for the respond. No I haven't but its a sony vaio all-in-one desktop pc. I could try to hook up an external monitor. I'll have to do it later but once I do I will let you know how that went. It makes 3 beeps when it starts-up 2 short ones and one long one and I read somewhere that that means something but I don't know what it means. Have any idea?

    Thanks,

Sure it's not 1 long, 2 short? That means Video adapter error.

Yeah 1 long 2 short. I tried hooking up an external monitor. It still doesn't work. But when I started it I heard the windows greeting, you know at windows log-in. Is there anyway to fix the video adapter error?

    Thanks,
