    Replacing HDD's with SSD's

Hope this is the right section to post in?
At the moment, l have two 500gb HDD drives installed, the first one is split between C: and D: and the
second one is the E: drive where all my backups are (OS image, music, films, docs etc).
By the way, the D: drive partition exists but is totally empty.
I have just purchased two SSD drives (120gb and 240gb) which will be arriving next week and should cope for the moment, but wherever l look, there are so many conflicting answers about how to install these.
I keep seeing something about "TRIM" which is daunting.
Also, what do l have to do?
Disconnect the C:/D: HDD drive, install the 120gb SSD and then boot up from from the E: disk?
I'm probably panicking a bit too much, but just need a little bit backup from someone else in case l lose all of my data.

Which specific SSDs did you buy?

Which will you install Windows on?

What's the purpose of the other one?

    Generally:

If you want to install Windows to an SSD, disconnect all other hard drives, including external.

Do you intend to do a clean install onto one of the new SSDs?

Don't worry about TRIM at this point.

What's the purpose of your current D drive if it's almost empty?

    Is your data on C?
