Shrink Volume In GB Instead of MB

I've installed a new hard disk drive 750GB and trying to resize the volumes using disk management but the resizing is in MB I can't just simply put the size in GB.

    C:/System Files (40GB)
    D:/Documents And Settings (80GB)
    E:/Personal Files (300GB)
    F:/Backup (300GB)

Yeah, it uses MB. Ten GB is Ten Thousand MB. You have to adjust your thinking to allow for the difference. Do some experimentation with the control and you should get the hang of it.

    Hello Swiftkidd,

Yeah, you'll need to use the old 1024 MB = 1 GB to enter how many GBs you want.

The quick and dirty way is to just add 3 zeros to the end. Brinks way is more precise but if you just want to ball park it adding 3 zeros will work.

Right - at that scale, ballpark is good enough. All disk management programs I know deal in MBs. That seems to be the standard.

Thanks for the replies, I was calculating 1024 x 30 (30720) but found I had to add a little extra (30726) to get 30.00GB to show up in my computer plus I'm resizing after operating system had installed so forced to use the Shrink & Extend utility which made it feel little more complicated. I have only just learn that you can only extend partitions if unallocated space is directly adjacent to the right of the partition? Is there a partition manager that can be used to rearrange / reorganize my partition layout? or are they stuck in the order that they were created. Thanks
