Looking to buy new Monitor

Hi guys

As the title says I am considering a new monitor, the recent install of win. 7 went well and maybe it is time to upgrade the monitor. I currently have a 19 in. LG (not wide screen), and I am thinking of going to a 23 in. wide screen.

What is popular with the Win. 7 forums users -

Graphic card = GTX 260 w/DVI ports

Thanks

Joe

I bought a Dell S2340M 23 inch IPS panel LED about a year ago. No complaints at all so far.

I got it from Newegg.com on sale for $140; it's currently $155:

Newegg.com - Dell S2340M Black 23" 7ms (GTG) Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS 250 cd/m2 1000:1

IPS panels are supposed to be superior, but your eyes may not be able to tell the difference

I am also a fan of HP monitors.. I have two w2207 and they are great.

But best is to go into a store and look at them. You cannot only go by the specs. You have to like the way they display.

I've now recently gone with two new Dell U2412M (24" IPS) monitors for my sister and brother-in-law. Looks great.

No HDMI connection, just DVI and DP and VGA. But four downstream USB ports (from one upstream USB connector to the PC) for added connectivity.

Most important to me, 16:10 1920x1200 rather than 16:9 1920x1080. Actually makes a big difference.

I'd like to discourage you from buying any LG electronics, from my experience (through smartphones, dvd players to TVs and more) they fail randomly within a short time.

I've always used Viewsonic monitors, I have a ASUS for the ball and chains desk. I recently bought a Korean made Crossover 27" 2560X1440, these use the same panel as the 1K Mac monitor. These have the same price as a regular 27" and have amazing color, the 1440 res is also very nice. It's hard to use a 1080 now.
