I need to buy a new mouse and keep my Gigabyte M6900 as a spare so this has been a good read.

I like it, it's a great mouse. I've been getting pains on my hand a lot for the last year between my middle and third finger and didn't know if it was down to the size of the M6900 (I've always used smaller mice in the past) or whether it's just the onset of arthritis or something. I was looking at slightly smaller mice with less of a shape to them, my last two fingers tend to drag on my mouse mat due to the shape of it, just to see if it stopped me getting the pains.

Nothing against the M6900 at all, it's a brilliant mouse for the price.

Doug. I think that guy is full of it. I have 2 G500's and have had one for about 3 or 4 years and have shot thousands of bad guys with them and have never had a problem. I also have a Gigabyte GM-M6800. I only used it for a short while and considering how cheap it is, I was surprised at how well it worked. I keep it for a backup now. Let me know what you decide, but I think I would probably stick with Logitech.
I agree on the bottom statement. I too would stick with logitech; I have used this brand for years without any problems; and their quality seems to be pretty solid so far. I have a mk700 wireless keyboard and mouse combo and so far so good with it.

it's not arthritis setting in, it's Gameitis. My little finger drags on the mouse pad too, with the G500. Honestly, I never noticed it until I read your post. But, the G500 is larger, I believe, than the M8900. I like them both. I'm brand loyal or just old and don't like changes, one or the other. But I would be highly upset if either my G500 or G510 went out. I've become so accustomed to them I would miss them if they wore out (why I bought another one of both on sale) and would most likely go right back to Logitech and try out their replacements. The G510 has 18 programmable keys and 3 modes. each key can be programed for a certain function or a macro, it has 3 modes. So, conceivably you could program 54 macros with it. I don't usually use the macro function, but I have it set just like I like it and probably couldn't play without them. I have the M500 set the same and am so used to the feel, it would be strange to try something else. I would be instinctively pushing a button that is not there. So, I would most likely go back to Logitech and buy the closest to what I have that I could find. I believe in 'you dance with the one who brought you'.

I used to get really bad hand ache and even friction burns on my pinky with my good old logitech mouse think its a g35 or 60, was the battlefield 2142 limited edition one! luckily the rat series come with pinky rests.

then again I dont hold a mouse like your meant to. Instead of having 3 finger on the mouse one for each button and scroll wheel, I only have the 2 one for each button. so pinky and ring finger hang over the edge.

That's how I hold mine. I've tried moving my ring finger onto the mouse but I end up putting it on the right mouse button while having to move my middle finger to the middle mouse button, and I just can't operate like that!

]I picked up a MSI DS100 at Frys today. I will set it up tonight and post my thoughts on it.

Hooked it up and like it. Looks and feels good. I think the braided cable is a nice touch, It matches my motherboard too
