The way Britton30 says always works for me. Plus, when you format it, type into Volume Label whatever name you want, and it will show in Computer and DM.

I don't know unless you use Britton30's suggestion and don't push apply at the bottom of the page.

Did both. Clicking just ok and and clicking Apply/Ok. Neither work. Now I'm just interested in why it behaves that way. I don't have indexing enabled but I doubt that would make a difference, would it? It's really the only thing or setting I can think of that would cause it and even then, seems unlikely.

You could try temporarily moving the data off and reformatting it, move data back and try it.

Well Im not worried about it, I was just wondering for learning purposes. I guess that would help as far as troubleshooting the (non) issue but maybe on a day when I'm not feeling so lazy.

Option #2 didn't work (autorun.inf). Can it be my AV or Hips secretly blocking it?

AppGuard could be doing it. It's trying to protect it for anything changing it.

    I have tried:

    Autorun.inf
    AppGuard in install mode
    AppGuard in OFF mode
    Reformatted Flash
    Changed name in Properties
    changed name on Drive display
    Admin tools/ Disk mangmnt
    Cursing
    Shouting
    Throwing

The Sandisk flash is unphazzed. Its name remains 'Removable Disk'
