Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows - Access Denied

I have recently bought an Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows.

After installing all the drivers and restarting my computer everything seemed to be going as planned however my controller fails to connect. Upon pressing the sync button the green wheel spins continuously around not connecting to the receiver.
As you can see in the photo below it says 'Access Denied' and when ever I attempt to update via Windows Update it will fail.
Many of the fixes I have researched have incidents where it is simply the computer not recognising the product calling it 'Unknown' however in my case it is known as 'Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows' however has a yellow exclamation mark next to it indicating some sort of issue. I know the issue is that the drivers aren't present even though I HAVE downloaded them off the Microsoft website however due to the access denied I cannot move on.

Its been really frustrating since I obviously want to use this product and I can't, a fix will be most welcome
    Thanks

Is this a genuine Microsoft receiver or a cheap crappy one? Genuine ones install themselves without the need for drivers, it's a complete lottery whether the cheap ones work or not. I bought a cheap one and ended up binning it, then bought a genuine one and it worked like a dream.

    Windows Reciever - Boozad

I believe it to be genuine. Bought it off Amazon here:
Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver For Windows (Xbox 360): Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video Games

Don't believe it being a cheap knock-off is the issue here however it did not install itself immediately once plugged in like you said it should. It came with an installation disk which appeared to install everything but once the receiver and the controller wouldn't connect I downloaded them off the official Microsoft website but they too didn't work. Installing the drivers seems to have no effect and my computer doesn't even recognise that I have.

OK, try uninstalling through Device Manager then reconnect the adaptor but don't install anything. Then turn on your controller and see if it connects, if it does the drivers should install then.

Did you have any luck with this? My daughter's wireless controller arrived today and I've just installed it in ab out two minutes. I plugged the receiver in and the drivers auto installed, then I turned the controller on and paired it to the receiver and the drivers auto installed for the controller. It really should be as simple as that.

Has your controller ever been synced to an actual Xbox? I know when I tried syncing my controller that was for my Xbox it wouldn't take it, it just kept turning my Xbox on (which was on a different floor!) when I turned the controller on so I ended up buying a new controller.

Thanks for the suggestion however after un-installing it all it did not work.
My controller has been used for my Xbox and it too kept turning on my Xbox when ever I attempted to sync it, to stop this I simply unplugged my Xbox however maybe that's causing some issues?
No luck with this auto installing of the drivers either, maybe I have been scammed after all. Going to do a little more research to fine a 100% genuine receiver and see if that does the trick :)
    Thanks

It's possible, I never got mine working after it had been synced with my Xbox.

Can you post a photo of the receiver mate? Does it have the Microsoft branding on it? This is the one I bought my daughter, it comes complete with the receiver and is a great price for the two, they're £45 everywhere else I found them.

I have the EXACT same problem , it does see my device but not as unknown device , it sees it as "xbox 360 wireless receiver for windows" , i am also positive it's genuine as i bought it from the store with the cd and everything in a box , and it's the same black controller in your link.Might this have something to do with the fact that my all usb ports are 3.0?
Also i don't own an xbox.

    P.S : Should have bought a wired controller .

Did the receiver auto install when you plugged it in? Can you take a photo of both sides of the controller and attach them in your next post. Upload and post screenshots and photos. You really shouldn't have to use the installation disk as Windows will find the relevant driver itself.

Yeah it auto installed when i plugged it in , but it encountered an error. For some reason i don't know why my computer won't find the drivers for ANY of my phones/tablets so i can upload a picture , i tried for like 1 hour to figure out what's wrong but to no result.
I am positive though that this is my controller : MEDIA GALAXY | Controller Xbox 360 & PC MICROSOFT JR9-00010, Controller Xbox 360 & PC MICROSOFT JR9-00010, 10 butoane, USB, negru
Don't mind the language , at the bottom of the main picture with the big black controller there's the same exact red box it came in where i think you can also see the receiver.
