Windows booting up to black screen with a cursor only

Hi all..from this morning i am experiencing a problem which i mentioned as my Thread title, till last night my pc was alright, but when i went on to start my pc today i started to have this issue.. during booting when the welcome screen appears and i am finished with entering my login password and hit the enter button then the buffering starts and it holds fr some 1 or 2 seconds and then welcome screen is disappearing and instead of desktop A BLACK SCREEN WITH ONLY CURSOR SYMBOL is being displayed on the screen, the cursor is moving if mouse is moved but nothing more, the black screen is holding fr few seconds(3 or 4 may be) then the desktop is appearing with taskbar, icons, wallpapers and clock gadget.I have restarted my pc twice and also tightened the cables connecting graphics card, monitor and hard disks(to fix any scope of loose connection ) ,but it didn't serve my purpose,If u guyzz plzz help me and suggest me some tweaks or solutions then it will be of much help for me..

    Thanks in Advance

McTavish, it sounds like the computer is booting normally. There is often a black screen on bootup before the desktop loads, if I understand what you say is happening. Windows is either loading something in the background, or is deciding which screen to use (even if you only have one). Reboot your machine, then check the Event Viewer to see if there are any errors on boot.

Also, have you installed any new software or updated any software recently?
