    Weird issues with DVD-ROM

Up until today, I hadn't had much problems with my DVD-ROM. I was able to burn and open files from CDs and DVDs fine. The only time I ever had a problem was when trying to use a DVD+R DL.

Either way, as of right now, my DVD-ROM refuses to open video files from a specific DVD I burned some weeks ago. Furthermore, whenever I try to open these files directly from a player (Media Player Classic), the player freezes and stays unresponsive. And when I try and open the files from through Windows Explorer, WE itself freezes and stays unresponsive as well.

On both instances, the DVD-ROM seems to stay "stuck". It will open and eject the disk, but otherwise, it makes a weird, repeating sound, as if the disk is unable to spin or something, and the light blinks at a rhythm of one blink, pause, and then two quick consecutive blinks.

I tried using FixIt, since I thought it had to do with driver updates or some silly software malfunction, but it didn't work the first time, and the second time, it stayed stuck.

I'm really desperate because I use my DVD-ROM a lot and I would like some help on this. What is your take on this problem?

Hello and welcome Servant mate just replace the drive - so easy - just go to here and look up the model and it will tell you how to change it - usually just one screw and they are so cheap.

Get into trouble - just post me back as I have done a fair bit of work on Toshibas especially my own two,
Toshiba laptop DIY disassembly instructions < read this page really well first as it contains important text and pics of the ribbon cables which can be very fiddly to take out and especially insert. The go to the disassembly guides and look up your model it will contain a break down of how to do different stuff to your machine.
