Laptop & TV go into standby (sleep) mode right in the middle of a vid

Hello and thanks in advance for any help.

I'm using a laptop with Windows7 to pump video out to my LG 50-inch TV via HDMI cable (typically AVI files via the VLC player).

I have been doing this for 2 years now with the exact same hardware and it has worked wonderfully.

The problem I am having is new: right in the middle of a video the TV will go blank (IE standby/sleep mode) and then the laptop will follow suit. I then have to go hit a button on the laptop to wake it up and the video will resume. I then have to hit the "input" button on the TV to get it to resume. Then it works fine again for sometimes hours or sometimes only minutes.

In other words my TV is suddenly and inexplicably putting my laptop to sleep through the HDMI cable. This happens randomly and daily and never used to happen at all.

If I disconnect the HDMI cable the problem does not occur on the laptop. I have tried changing the HDMI cable and the HDMI port at the back of the TV to no avail. I have disabled standby on both the TV and the laptop to no avail.

Is there perhaps a windows setting that can override HDMI input from the TV? I am at a bit of a loss...

    Thanks for any help. Thaigrr

I seem to have fixed this one myself. I did a driver update search in device manager and it installed a newer driver and a new version of Nvidia Control Panel. I customized some settings in there and now the problem has gone :)
