    1 TB WD HDD not detected by Windows 7

    I newly purchased WD HDD My passport ultra and i have downloaded sufficient drivers from WD website. I have installed all drivers and restarted system and connected hdd using usb.. It searched for device drivers and after sometime it shown that windows stooped this device with some error no (code 43 ) like that. In device manager it's showing unknown device. On the other hand in XP os it detected automatically and drivers also installed automatically.. I didn't get what would be the problem, Is OS problem or something else??

    I am using anti virus in windows 7 and none in xp, Is that anti virus stopping device drivers to install properly??

    No internet connection for my windows 7 where my xp has internet, Is that internet connection needed to download drivers online??

    Please help me out...

    The following should correct the problem;

    1. Click Start, then type device manager in the Search box, then click Device Manager.
    2. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right click a device and click Uninstall. Repeat for each device.
    3. Once complete, restart your computer. Your USB controllers will automatically install.

    Please post back results.

    You shouldn`t have to be installing any drivers for it, windows should do it all by itself, just plug it in.

    You could try running windows update

    And of course windows has to be connected to the net.
