    HD speed question

    I went through a Win 7 upgrade and everything is fine. System seems stable and runs well. However, when I check the speed everything is above the 7.0 mark, except the HD. It's only 5.8. I did the normal cleanup and degrag after my upgrade so that's not an issue. My questions are;

    1. Is 5.8 a good score, and I should be happy with that?
    2. The driver listed is from 06, should I update it, and if so where do you suggest I look. I couldn't find one on on the Western Digiatal site.
    3. Is this a MB issue? Again I looked at Gigabyte and only saw a RAID driver.

    BTW I have a WD7500AACS drive, and like everything on this system it's only a couple months old.

    Any insight of suggestions?

    5.9 is the highest score you will get with a HDD, scores will be higher with an SSD (Solid State Drive)

    I wouldn't worry about the score it has given you, mine is 5.9

    No need to update drives and it isn't an issue with your motherboard.

    Yes, 5.8 is a very good score for drives and as Fluffy noted, 5.9 is the highest without using an SSD. Even 10,000 RPM drives only get a 5.9. I suspect if your drive had a 32Mb buffer, you might have reached 5.9.

    I also agree with Fluffy about drivers - don't mess with them.
