    SATA Data Cable Question

I just got some new SATA data cables. They have the lock on them which my old ones didn't.
I put them on and I could still grab the sides of the cable and pull them off the drive. Should they lock and not come off unless I loosen the lock? Thanks,

I believe that the connector on your drive must also have the tab that the latches latch on to. If it is an older drive (SATA 2) it may not have that tab. I think the latches are a SATA 3 spec.

Not all HDDs have the little tab for the latches to latch onto. WDs are noted for that, even the newest ones. I've never had a problem with SATA data cables coming off without latches.

Thanks, I don't have a problem with them coming off. I was just curious if they were supposed to lock and were not. I guess the drive does not have the latch. Thanks for the info.
