my mouse and key board disconnected

I am using a HID-compliant mouse and HID keyboard both from microsoft ,and they keep disconnecting. I tried every thing like reinstalling them, using msconfig and making a new INFCACHE.1 folder. But nothing works. Do I need a new mouse and keyboard? also i used drive booster and the drivers are up to date.please help me its trying me crazy.

Have you used those USB ports for anything aside of the keyboard and mouse lately? I've had USB ports go bad, and I've also had keyboards and mice go bad. If all other devices are running fine out of that USB port, and money is tight, I'd try borrowing another keyboard/mouse combo before purchasing a new one.

A second thought: does there seem to be any pattern to the disconnection? For example, every time you watch a video, or open a certain type of application?

If nothing else is disconnecting when using those ports, and the devices still disconnect when using other ports, then it's certainly a problem with the HID hardware. Try putting a small bend in the USB plug (not port) on the side that doesn't have the chip; like the one shown in this picture:
