Current pending sector count error

    Current pending sector count error


    Today i decided to look at S.M.A.R.T result and found this error called current pending sector count and its raw value is showing 8.

    Here's a screenshot,


    How can i fix this? or this hd is dead?

    Yes, it will.

    If you do not wish to perform a (Low Level) format, you may keep the current configuration until it fails

    i am trying to use the tool but its saying unable to lock the drive

    Oh HORROR

    CrystalDisk shows you are trying to fix C:\.

    Do you realize that after the tool has done its job you will have to reinstall Windows and ALL software that is present on C:\

    The tool supports OS: MS Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, Server 2003, 2008, 2008R2,
    which means it runs under Windows and THAT is why you should not use it on C:\,
    and you SHOULD be thankful that it found the drive locked.

    I think you should be very careful in what you are attempting.

    I fear you are likely to suffer extreme loss of data using high power tools you do not fully understand as you seek to fix a negligible smart data error which is rated no higher than CAUTION by CrystalDisk.

    My advice - quit whilst you are ahead.

    I am aware of that, i backed up all of my data.
