Ok.....
Hi, thanks all of you for your help!
I think I'll give it a try with 7. They only use it for basic home stuff like Facebook, internet and music.
I've had some issues in the past trying to use Vista drivers with 7, but more often than not they worked ok.
TVeblen's PC was dual core, this one is single core, but I'll give it a try. If it's too slow I'll just downgrade to XP. (No way I'm giving this back with Vista)
Thanks a lot! :)
Hey did you read all the posts?:P
Good i cant wait to know what will happen when you instal it.
RonAshman I personally have never tried what you are going to try.
It doesn't cost anything to try, so go for it. If it doesn't work as desired go for plan B.
Windows 7 is pretty driver complete but that is a old system so who knows.
Let us know how things go.
Any computer that came with Vista should run Windows 7 better. 2 GB is quite adequate for normal use on Windows 7. 64 bits not normally recommended with 2 GB RAM. In most cases Drivers will be available but it pays to check.
XP should generally be avoided. It is no longer being supported and security is a large and growing concern. When Microsoft drops support for an OS it tends to act as a signal to software suppliers that they should consider doing the same.
Thanks for your reply!
This might take some extra time as I wasn't counting on this little problem.
The fan spins extremely fast and loud, you can tell it's very dirty. I used to clean my previous laptop by just removing the bottom cover, it would expose the motherboard and the fan, but I've done some research and people usually tear this pc apart completely to clean the fan. I don't feel very comfortable with that since it's not mine. I'm guessing just blowing compressed air into the vent won't do any good if I don't tear it apart.
So I'll see what I can do.
Thanks a lot again.

EDIT: I just found a tech guy recommended by a friend who will clean it for a few bucks. I'll install 7 after that.
