Should I install Win7 in this PC?

    Hi!

    Very quick doubt.

    I have a friend's laptop. Presario F700 series.
Single core AMD 2Ghz. 2GB ram. GPU Nvidia 7000 series.

Came with Vista. Was running XP but it's all virused and slow now.
Should I reinstall XP or might try 7? 7 is lighter so I thought it'd work fine, the processor is even 64bit capable.

    What do you think?

    Thanks :)

    Hi,
I think you should install XP because it is very light for that old PC and you will not have a good experience with that PC in windows 7 especially in performance or it may even not install windows 7 cause the PC is too old for such OS.

I installed Windows 7 32 bit on my daughter's Compaq Presario F767NR when she owned it. I don't recall having trouble finding working drivers or installing, and it ran reasonably well.

    Really!

It was too long ago for me to remember the entire experience, but I think the only trouble I had was (thinking to) installing the chipset driver. That was probably the Vista driver installed in Compatibility Mode.
But she ran W7 on it through college.

Okay That seems to be good but it depends on you Ron if you like alot of features you should go to 7 but if you like simple and easy and a OS that doesnt have a lot of errors you can go to XP.
    Again You choose :)

If that laptop was capable of running Vista, it is capable of running Win 7. Drivers shouldn't be an issue because Vista drivers can be used in Win 7.

Yes that is possible. It depends on the device manufacturer and how closely they develop the driver to Windows specs.
Most of the problem drivers we have seen here were not installed in Compatibility Mode.
