You can do a basic test of a power supply under load using a multimeter.
You connect the multimeter to any spare connector coming out of the power supply with black and yellow wires. A molex connector works best - you can insert the probes directly into the molex connector pin sockets and hold them there with tape. The + goes on the yellow (12v) wire.
Then you power on the PC and observe the readings, as it starts up, once you get to the desktop, and then as you use the computer. You would want to play your game at highest settings.
The voltage should remain steady throughout, no dips or drops. A tiny 1/10 fluctuation is normal in most consumer multimeters.
A PC can shut down due to overcurrent voltage protection in the power supply, Any disruption in power flow from the power supply, CPU overheating, electrical failure on the motherboard - to name a few.
