Windows 7 not detecting mouse or keyboard

I installed Windows 7 a few days ago, and it was working perfectly. Yesterday, my brother borrowed my PSP charger, and so I hooked it up to my computer to charge it.

After connecting, it automatically went into USB mode, which I ignored as it'd resulted in no problems on xp/vista.

However, after the drivers automatically installed, my keyboard and mouse stopped functioning, and my PSP disconnected from my computer (couldn't read).

My keyboard and mouse work fine, and the motherboard can apparently detect them (at least the keyboard, since I can enter BIOS), and another computer can detect them without problems. When Windows 7 loads, though, the lights on both turn off, and neither is responsive (Have also tested this with other functioning mice (mouses?) and keyboards.)

Any ideas and help would be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind that I have no method to input commands. Safe mode results in the same problems.

Boot into safe mode and use a restore point for System Restore.

Sorry, missed that. In this case, do as I said but boot computer with PS/2 devices. See if you have those ports for keyboard/mouse.

If you don't have PS/2 kb and mouse, buy at the store, then return when done. lol

Or boot computer up normally and use Dameware to control it from another computer to fix the issue or do restore.

3rd option, perhaps best, boot to Win7 DVD and you can choose repair there to do restore. System Recovery Options

USB 3.0 port may be the cause

I had the same problem. Built my computer from parts. The UEFI bios recognized the mouse and keyboard just fine. Then when I went to install windows7 64bit, and at the first screen, no mouse or keyboard response.

I moved my Mouse/Keyboard connection from the USB 3.0 port on my mnotherboard to a 2.0 port, and viola! problem solved.

Not sure exactly what the problem was, but I suppose it could be due to W7 64 bit not shipping with the exact USB 3.0 driver needed by my motherboard (ASRock Z77 Extreme6) in its "prior to W7 full install" mode. Just a guess.
