lost usb ports, what to do

was messing round with changing my polling rate for a mx500 in windows 7, unfortunately you have to get windows to enable driver signing of non authorised drivers. so after using Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider and trying to run the driver by following these instructions, How to Increase USB Sample Rate in Windows Vista/7 - Page 6
one of my usb ports is now dead and wont recognise mouse or keyboard. i think i know what i did wrong in the process but need to get the port working again before i can try the process again. so question for people is, how can i restore this port ?? hope someone can help...

How did you sort it? I would like to know as I have an Acer Travelmate 4000. I recently set up this machine as a dual boot XP/Win 7. I recently have a problem in in 7 - the two USB ports on the side do not recogise anything although the one on the front works as normal! hen I boot in XP all three work! Any idears anyone?

    Thanks,

    Terry
