DVD Drive not found or working.

    I have an Asus k53e with win7 x64.

I have tried the regedit then delete upper and lower but upper and lower was not in the regedit so could not do that.

    I have updated bios.

There is nothing in the bios that says cd, dvd, optical drive etc..

Not on the boot menu upon startup, hdd is the only choice.

I tried a tested/working dvd rom and still not found, no lights. Just dead.

If BIOS doesn't see it, chances are either the DVD drive is dead, or the power connector has come off somehow.

Does the light on the drive flicker when you power up?

Nope, no lights. And as the OP said I tried different dvd players, which were pulled from working and tested laptops so I know those drives work before i tested in this asus.

I also took the palmrest completely off just to make sure the dvd drive was actually going all the way in and being connected and there weren't any loose connections. Everything fit good and connected. So not a connection problem either.

Bad controller, maybe? That would explain why you can't see it in BIOS.
