Can somone educate me about eSATA?

This subject is new to me and it looks like I goofed.

I bought an external hard drive enclosure which is set up for eSATA and I didn't have anything on my computer to accept the cable.

So--I ordered a couple of brackets to accept the cable. The brackets came today and guess what? The bracket doesn't accept the cable so I am at square one. Are there different eSATA connectors? Leave it to me to buy the wrong ones.

    Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.

Thanks David. A quick look doesn't answer my question but I'll dig into it later today.

What I'm trying to determine is if there are different eSATA connectors.

    Most appreciated.

    The connectors are different.
    Quote from that article:
Aside from the change in the shape of the connector that prevents SATA drives from being used with eSATA, the connectors and the cables themselves, also underwent changes to adapt them for external use.

What is the brand and part number of the external enclosure?

David, I'm aware that SATA and eSATA are different but since my eSATA cable won't fit into my eSATA brackets, something is amiss.

    Gotcha

For the record, I have just ordered my fourth external enclosure which comes with the appropriate bracket. For the difference in price, it was stupid for me to order the cheaper one.

I really appreciate your checking in. I just needed to be educated.

Only one style of esata cable and esata port available as shown in the Rosewill video for your enclosure.
