that was my assumption regarding the mouse, but then the cable was damaged.. or should l say the connector so it could be pure coincidence it happened while disconnecting externals, and l must admit l remember it happening at just once under normal usage.

(touch wood) so far lve not had the device disconnection/reconnection sound so far. had some annoyances with the wireless.. but they are unrelated since the laptop was experiencing them as well.. was prolly just the router being bogged down, other than that so far so good.

been noticing that svchost has started to eat my ram again, one of the services was eating nearly a gig of my ram on its own..

then l remembered process explorer it seems the svchost processes eating my ram are all labelled as being under the explorer process so l looked under the threads tab on the properties of the service to notice the largest of the svchost processes seems to have many instances of "ntdll.dll!RtlValidateHeap+0x170" within it, the other did as well but not as many, lm wondering if thats what has started eating my ram, my basic google search did reveal a few had issues but mostly with CPU usage not ram.

comparing to before my upgrade to this system ld usually reboot once a week. average usage would be around 25% of my ram rising when l was browsing (obviously), however svchost services would never use the amount of ram they do now.

if l left it then it would rise higher and higher, lve seen once svchost use 1gb of ram along with explorer using around 500meg, but since taking a gander l know the processes that seem to start eating ram are namely svchost proeccesses which are under the explorer process, l also noticed one instance of "iphlpsvc" being listed in the service column which l believe is the IP Help service that said lve just gone through disk cleanup if memory serves l cleared 700mb of system error memory dumps a few weeks back theres like 600meg of them there again!!

It is the Helper program and yes they do tend to keep coming back ... I am sure your System should be clean so can rule that out ... I thought you where away for Days at a time and you still leave the System on ...
