just thought ld post an update since lm back online with my main system. as previously stated l put a small length of cable between my rear usb 3.0 ports to the front (its no longer than 30/50cm) so l can reach a usb connection for when l connect an external.

so far lve connected both my current externals (the ones l use regularly) including my usb 3.0 thumb drive, touch wood while disconnecting them l havent been receiving a second set of connection/disconnection sounds with no idea what it was.

l guess its entirely possible that when lve had the front off to change fans for example l might have slightly damaged or dislodged the front panel usb connectors connection tho l had checked but couldnt see any problems.. with the small length of usb cable l can live using rear ports tbh. however lm still unsure if lve fixed the usb drivers with intel generic ones until l get another issue.

no worries, l'll continue to keep an eye on things.. if the issue doesnt happen again on the rear ports l guess it can be put down to the front panel ones.

will be pretty interesting to see what happens l must admit lm curious.

as for the storm, not much to prepare for tbh, everything is already safe as things can be.. that said from what lm aware northern Ireland and scotland are more in the firing line at the moment as it seems most weather maps seem to be putting the storm a little further north each time and also weakening the storm which supposedly wont be as bad as last years storms were more severe (at least going by what lve read on forums) l just hope things calm down as bad weather annoys me.

l know how it is to be flooded :/ , back in 2008 when we were living down Devon we had a wet spell and it flooded up to an inch on the whole bottom floor, we lost pretty much everything that was lower than that and to add insult to injury our employer at the time (who we rented the house from) told us to leave not long after for claiming on the insurance :/ the next employer wasnt much better either but thats a whole different story lol.

as for the wind, going by recent updates hopefully it shouldnt be as bad as Birtha was.

with regards to the topic, lve just noticed that an error relating to "\Driver\WUDFRd" hasnt been showing up when l use my thumb drive now that lve been using rear ports rather than the front panel (lve connected it a few times but l cant seem to find the error in the event viewer, it always used to show up when connecting) and lve been through most of the information/error logs.

l did notice that thread when l googled, and did try the fix (l believe it was a service tweak), however it didnt the error did continue to popup despite the fix.. however strangely l havent been able to find the error in the event logs since starting to use the rear USB ports which also makes me wonder if the front panel usb ports have an issue considering the past few days lve not received what l can only describe as a ghost device detection sound.
