Looking for a Pata SSD or SSHD

My wife's first laptop - Vista from Febr. 2007 - is very slow. It has a 5400RPM HDD with a disamel 3.9 WEI.

Since the wife keeps holding on to this thing - it's her pet although she does have 3 modern laptops with SSDs - I wanted to upgrade the disk. Unfortunately it is Pata (IDE) and there are not many options.

Did anybody ever upgrade a 2.5" Pata system with a fast disk ??

I was really looking for someone who has put one into his own system - kind of an experience report. The proposed makes are all not mainstream and I do not know how well they would do.

SSHD - Performance comparison with HDD and SSD
We had several discussions regarding the benefits and performance of SSHDs. But since nobody had any real data, I decided to order a SSHD when a reasonably priced model was on sale at Newegg. I ran comparison tests with a HDD and a SSD and the details are below. I have removed the original...

Can I make partitions on SSHD?
Hello, Just want to ask whether the SSHD can be partitions (like normal hard drive) or not and whether this process (partition the SSHD) will cause problems? Many Thanks :):):) Arshad

SSD/HD vs SSD/SSHD vs SSHD combinations
I just purchased a 128GB SSD to install in my PC and then someone gave me for my birthday a 1TB SSHD. I was originally planning to pair the SSD with a 1TB data drive. I now have several possibilities: 1. Use the SSHD only 2. Use the SSD as the boot drive with a HD data drive (original...

SSHD drive & M/B port
I am replacing a recently failed Corsair 128GB SSD with a Seagate 1TB SSHD drive. My O/S is on another SSD, plugged into one of the two Marvell 6GB ports on my M/B. I am assuming I am best connecting the new SSHD to the other Marvell port? Please correct me if I am wrong (and explain why!)....

Buying a Seagate SSHD for my laptop?
Hi everyone, The HDD from my Toshiba C650d has failed, which seems to be a common issue in this model. Therefore, I will have to buy a new hard drive for my computer, and I was thinking about buying a Seagate 500GB SSHD model, like this one. Is this a good drive to buy? Is it reliable? Best...

Defrag on SSHD
Now that I have SSHD installed, I wonder if defrag should be any different than regular HDD. I just do not want to defrag SSD part. So far did not come across anything that will give me access to it, still.. Thanks in advance.
