    External monitor turning off on it's own after a few seconds


    I am using an external monitor LG Flatron W2246S. It has been working fine up until today.

    When I set it up, the screen shows for about 3 seconds then goes black. The monitor is still switched on. I've run trouble shooting and found nothing. I've disconnected and reconnected and the problem persists.

    Please help.

    What cable are you using to connect the monitor to the PC?

    An I/F cable

    UPDATE: Tried a different monitor using the same I/F cable and it worked fine. I would like to get the more expensive monitor working.

Using Win 7 Pro 64bit. Every time I turn off the monitor I either see a blank screen, or the taskbar is gone or the PC is in terminal sleep (can't be awakened). I usually have to reboot. If I leave the monitor on, these things don't happen. Any hints as to why this might occur? Thanks. PRS
i use my second monitor for vent so i can see who joined etc but for some reason when i start a game unlike xp the second monitor turns black is there any way to change this so the second stays at desktop and the first just runs the game?
