    I needed more than one print queues

    I maintain a printer with 6 password protected accounts and one account that's not PW protected. It has only one print Que. IT would be nice if each user had their own Que. Is this possible? How?

    First give the printer a static IP address or reserve one in your DHCP pool.
    Add a printer, local printer, create a new standard TCP/IP port and enter the IP address of the printer. Complete the installation of your printer driver and print a test page. Right click the new printer installation and select printing prefernces and make the approriate selections. Install a second printer but instead of adding a second port, attach it to the port created above and repeat process.

    This sounds good for creating additional printer queses but I need one for each user. The problem, in the past, has been a user clutters up the ques and the next user can't print until the ques is cleared. I get called for that.
    Is there a way to create separate ques, one in each user account so they screw up only theirs.

    That should be possible. I don't know off hand, I will ask for help to see if we can get an answer for you.

    One setting that may help in the software, if not already set, is to choose start printing immediately instead of the file downloading to the buffer before starting to print. A problem with separate print ques is that most printers have a single built-in buffer that the print job goes to from the print spooler. But then what is the make and model of the printer?

    The printer is a HP D-4260 DeskJet.
    By-passing the spooler sounds like a good idea.
    In W7 what is the path of a print job once a user presses the last print button? ie;

    EXAMPLE using the spooler
    Last button on prtr dialog ....... Q........Spooler ........printer buffer ......Print job OR
    EXAMPLE by-passing the spooler
    etc.
