screen tearing/flickering after new psu

So I have recently upgraded a junky 485w PSU to an Antec 550w and I have been noticing some slight screen tearing/flickering whether in games or just siting on the desktop. Its slight and barely noticeable sometimes and other times its a bit distracting. Turning vsync on in games helps, because with it off it is simply awful. Could the new PSU be causing the problem here?

I should also bring up that about 2 months ago I upgrade my video card from HD5870 to R9 270x. I dunno if that info will help since I haven't been noticing the flickering since a couple days ago when I installed the new PSU. Just some added info.

I am seeing a "minimum" recommended PSU of 500W for that card but note that is based on a somewhat arbitrary number from what the maker feels is the "average" computer the card will go in, with an average number of drives, RAM, etc. If you have added a bunch of hardware to your computer, 650W or larger may have been a better choice.

Antec is one of my preferred brands and that 550W "should" be enough. But even the best brands can produce a lemon. You could try your old supply (if it has the necessary extra 2 x 6-pin PCI-E power connectors your new card requires). Since you see this when just sitting at the desktop, the old PSU should be able to handle it. Don't stress the PSU by gaming, just look to see if you see this problem. If you do, then it is not the Antec.
