Keyboard problem with Toshiba Satellite C855 laptop

I would appreciate any help with my laptop. It recently suffered a dramatic and total failure from which I needed to return it to a factory re-set. Having done this I have a small but very irritating problem in that when I press the DEL button I get ....if I press the shift key at the same time it does then delete as intended. During the factory re-set process I would have pressed many keyboard combinations using the Function keys and the FN key and I suspect that I have unexpectedly created this reversal problem myself. If any one can help me correct this fault I would be most grateful.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
Thank you for your reply. I have now tried this but sadly it has not corrected my problem.
I guess I might just be stuck with this problem.

Hook up an external keyboard and see if that does same thing

Edit: just curious why you would need to use any function keys during the factory reset

I have just tried an external keyboard and this works fine ! Any other ideas will be gratefully received.

The answer to question 2 is firstly PANIC and DISASTER because I had an unwelcome invader that disabled the anti virus (Avast) and bypassed Malwarebytes anti Malware preventing me from connecting to the internet and producing numerous pop-ups of a distasteful nature. It was my intention to re-start in safe mode to attempt a repair but as the onscreen instructions to do this passed in a nanosecond, much too quickly for my 76 year old reactions and eyesight. Resulting in many keys being pressed. As it was then creating a factory reset status I allowed it to run fully aware that I would need to re-install my programmes. I have been able to restore files and folders from the last backup.

I am sure you have the Value Added Packager Installed ... Maybe Uninstall that and Re-Install might help ...

Hi Maxie, Thanks for this. I didn't even know I had this. I have just done an Uninstall and Re-install, sadly the problem still exists.

I'm a bit hesitant to try this because it was trying to find how to go to safe mode that started my problem. If you have the time and patience to tell me how to do this I would be delighted to try it.
    Thank you.

Restart laptop start tapping F8 when laptop starts up. Should bring to window with different options. Use arrow key to select safemode then press enter
