Windows 7: weired USB behaviour

weired USB behaviour

i have usb drive of 7.26GB, it shows that it has 5.03GB free as seen in image sony 1.jpg (bottom image file)

while i have only 2 files in this usb, consisting of some KB only as seen in songy 2.jpg(top image file), i dont understand where is the rest of usb used in

pls forgive my poor english

That would appear to be an 8GB Thumb/Flash drive, or maybe an 8GB memory stick for a camera. Could be 'hidden' files on it. Right-click it and choose Properties, see if you get the same information.

I had enabled show hidden files/folders/drives but still same 2 files showing up enviornent.docx and one photo.jpg

i formatted the drive and problem went away

How old is it, could it have been used before? For Thumb/Flash drives you can format them in the computer but if a memory stick used in a camera format it in the camera's utilities or it may become unusable [cameras do it differently]. Copy the files to somewhere else first if you want to save them. Also keep in mind there is always a lesser size reported after the process of formatting, seldom will the actual size equal the advertised/package size.
