Windows 7 - Device / Printer installation!

I have recently bought and installed a permanent copy of W 7 PRO and had no problems up till installing the printers. I tested the release copy of w 7 Ultimate for 3 months w/o having any major issues so I'm quite surprised at this. Anyway I want to install a non-connected printer by picking it from the lists in the "Install Printer Wizard" but every time it tries to load the selected printer it returns a message "Printer driver was not installed. Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000003)." I had previously installed my printers on the RC 7 copy through the wizard and as I said had nothing like this happen and exactly all the same hardware was in play. I have 2 printers on a print server so I have to install the printers first so I can config them in the server menu. If you run the hardware discovery wizard of course it doesn't see anything new and doesn't go any further than the searching stage so I cancel out of it. I'm just a little stunned to see something like this after having a great experience with the release copy!

Thanks for the quick reply and the welcome. What I've done on my inital install is to change the Workgroup to "MSHOME" which is what I use on all the computers in the home network. I did this only today on the Windows 7 box which was 4 days after the initial install. I unlocked the "Administrator" account and used a password at the very begining of the install and added one additional non-password user account. So far any SW install and/or changes have gone without issue. If I was in the admin account then it just went and if I was in the user account then it asked for the password, I put it in and all was well untill this printer thing. I have XP Mode working just fine and Media Center playing Blu Ray and local HD off-air TV. When I first installed the RC copy I only set up a user account w/o password with administrative privlidges and didn't enable the "Administrator" account till just a few weeks ago but had the Workgroup set as MSHOME from the begining. Any suggestions? By the way I'm trying to configure an HP 7350 Photosmart using the Deskjet 5550 driver as HP instructs and I have a Brother MFC 4500ML that works good on the Brother HL 630 driver both through a Trendnet print server. Worked just fine on the RC version

Well I spent the last 2 days at different times, maybe 2 hours total trying to get the support techs to understand that the Add Printer Wizard does not work and it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm trying to send print jobs down a LAN cable to a print server and on to the selected printer. The tech heard me say that the printer was on my home network and after that all they wanted to do is send me on to the network group and then back to the printer manufacturer. Was not very impressed with the "paid" support of MS even though they didn't fix anything thus didn't charge me. Anyway I did some file digging between the RC and the OEM copy to compare the 'unidrv.dll' print driver named in the Windows printed Test Page from the config in the RC and found the OEM version of the file is dated 3+ months later so it could be different. I'm going to try replacing the new with the old and if that doesn't fix the problem then I guess I just have to start over. The plan will be to load windows, install the chipset board drivers, let windows do the basic Windows Update and then I'll attempt to install the printers before any other HW, SW or XP MODE. I'll update this after that takes place.
