Windows 7: Attempted RAM Upgrade - CPU Usage spikes to 100% - Now Sluggish

Ok, I will try. But this Dell diagnostic is taking forever.

In the meantime, is there a way to correct the IaStor.sys error without running System Restore, or re-installing the OS? I have System Restore turned off because my OS is on an SSD, so that might not be a good option, anyway.

I have a bootable USB thumb drive factory OS install... but again, I want to avoid reinstalling the OS to correct this.

And the bigger question is, why would attempting to install RAM, that the computer rejected, cause the degraded performance?

Incompatible Dimms are always a problem. That's why you have to check closely what the Crucial advisor says.

Can an attempted install of an incompatible DIMM "break Windows" like this?

Right?!

It makes no sense. Can you advise on the iastor.sys question? Now I'm getting looping BSOD's on startup every time that program begins in startup.

Can I uninstall Intel Rapid Storage, and try to reinstall it? Or is that a bad idea?

Do you run some driver update program.

I uninstalled the Intel Rapid Storage Program from Uninstall Programs (not Revo). There was no crash on startup this time, but the system performance is still completely degraded. 100% CPU usage when using any program.

Sluggish Performance/Memory Usage
My computer has been running very sluggishly lately. It seems that becomes bogged down even when I leave it alone and it's idle. I have a pretty decent amount of RAM (12gb) and it doesn't run any smoother when I close programs. I've attached some screenshots from Task Manager. I've cleared...

Firefox CPU Usage Spikes
I recently installed Firefox 3.6.6, and ever since I have been getting huge CPU usage spikes -- up to nearly 50% on one core. These spikes occur about once every ten seconds. When the spike occurs, any action in my browser is delayed a second or two, resulting in annoying lags during scrolling and...

Wierd CPU usage spikes
Hello, I upgraded to windows 7 this past Friday, Dec 4. I went with doing the upgrade from vista 64bit over doing a fresh install to prevent re-installing programs and just laziness. The past 2 days or so I have been noticing some programs running slow, one such is Ventrilo. I did the...

Sluggish UI & High CPU usage
I've noticed quite a bit of "hesitation" in the Windows 7 UI compared to Vista. I've been looking at my CPU usage and it also seems high. I've been looking at task manager to see what processes seem to be using a lot of CPU and I can't quite pin it down to a single process that seems to be...
