PC freezing and turning itself off

I'm having a few issues with my PC, I have some suspicions that it's an overheating issue but I'm not too sure. It started like a week ago when I was playing Dragon Age: Inquisition. The whole system locked up(not responding to keyboard shortcuts etc.) I figured it was due to the weather(it was a very hot day 36 degrees celsius) and a demanding game like that would burn up my hardware even quicker. But now I am having similar issues but the weather is much cooler. I was browsing on Chrome and bam system freeze.Reset and it seemed fine but then it turned itself off a couple of minutes after the Windows boot. After that it just refused to stay on for more than 5 seconds. I unplugged it and cleaned out some of the dust inside it using one of those air cans and it seems like it's working again. Also I notice that my PC has started to rattle quietly which it didn't do before, not sure if that's related. I'm not using a stock fan cooler for my PC, I have a Corsair H55 liquid cooler but it's quite old(at least 2 years). Are these signs of my cooler failing?

Have you checked the actual operating temps of the hardware? Various freewares to do that. I use Speccy even though I'm not sure how accurate it is. A rattle suggests a failing fan - not too many moving parts inside a computer to troubleshoot! Your power supply could be something else to check. Are you overclocking?

I have checked the temps with Speedfan but only when it was under stress running Dragon Age, can't start it up now to check because it keeps shutting itself down. I'm not overclocking. I don't think it's the PSU although that does have a fan as well
