HDD WD Current Pending Sector Count Problem

Hello there!
My computer began acting up yesterday so I ran some diagnostics and found out that my HDD had some problems. DiskInfo tells me that there are 122 Current Pending Sector Count and 10 Uncorrectable Sector Count and HD Tune's health scan had around 5% damaged blocks. I've used HDD Regenerator yesterday (and I should mention I had ~80 C.P.S.C back then) and after that I had around 2 or 8. Now It's a lot more, 122. I've backed up my important stuff and I'll try to zero write it. I'm just curious, can I save my hard drive or do I have to RMA it?

My HDD is a Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200Rpm. I've owned it since I built my custom PC back in 2013, 23rd May, so it's not that old. Thanks for the help!

Hello Legendary431!

Usually when so many bad sectors and issues turn on the hard drive, it's best that you don't use it any more. A certain software, like the WD Data Lifeguard Support, could be able to help by “fixing” the bad sectors, as in isolating them so that the disk doesn't write to them any more. But once bad sectors occur, they will happen again, despite the fact how many times you try and fix them.

Since you've already had your information backed up, I would suggest you go for it and RMA the drive. These links will help you to do that.

Hello CK_WD!
First of all, thanks a lot for taking the time to help me, I appreciate it!
I've tried using the Data Lifeguard Quick Test and Extended Test, and to make sure they run in best conditions I ran them in DOS mode after creating a bootable USB. The Quick Test completed successfully but told me it had found errors and then prompted me to run an Extended Scan. I did that, but the scan gave me error code 225, aka too many errors found, so it couldn't complete the test...
Guess there's no other hope for my HDD eh?

You're quite welcome!

I should think so, too. The 225 error in WD DLG explained is: “Error count reached a threshold value. There are too many errors detected on this drive to be repaired. Replace the drive.” This is from WD's Knowledge Base on it's official site, Diagnostic Error codes.
