driverless USB keyboard having difficulty in installing.

I have an A4tech USB KL(S)-40 keyboard which does not require any driver in order to function. However, my windows say that no driver found and therefore it will not be HID compliant keyboard. Because it is not HID compliant, software needed for the keyboard to function cannot be installed.... What seems to have caused the problem? Pls. help. It's already driving me crazy.

Hello and welcome Dungsen mate all keyboards and mice in my experience come with software / drivers as you plug it in does it say installing software?? If it does not then I would email the company here
A4tech Web Site and ask why the KB is not HID compliant and if they cannot come up with same solution I would be returning the keyboard. That situation is ridiculous and by the way I cannot see any driver for that keyboard on that site and to be quite frank unless you are dead set on using that one just get another brand and then let them know what you think of their products..

The other thing I can think of are your USB ports drivers up to date??

Thanks mate. First I have to apologize because I have been discrete. It's not only about a4tech but also other hardware brands that has issues( I have a logitech mouse that's also having the same problem but thank God it has online driver).... Eventhough they supposed to be driverless and automatically install, my OS still require it.. It must be some kind of issue with the drivers of my USB port. if I will uninstall my usb port drivers. my keyboard and my mouse will automatically function but once the port drivers are reinstalled they will stop functioning. Can you help me how to update this port? It says they are class09 and my usb keyboard and mouse are class 3. Is it because of the usb ports? By the way, my laptop only seems to have the problem because my input devices work on other pcs.

Ok Dungsten mate it would be handy to hav some specs on that machine even the model number would be a start. System Info - See Your System Specs
I see it has the Windows Starter though and my experience with it is it is very basic but it would be good to get those specs first.

First things first now what OS do you have because the specs say Window 7 Ultimate and yet you mention Starter?? So while I know now what machine you have what is on it is unclear if you have the Ultimate - just what is that Starter??

Plus just to be absolutely sure of what we are dealing with what is the model number of the machine as I cannot access drivers using just the motherboard model.

I do notice too that you are running just 2GB RAM is there a reason because it is not a lot for running Ultimate as a general rule.

make sure you install USB and chipset driver from the Mobo manufacturer.

there isn't a thing as driver-less. what they mean is that W7 either has the driver built in or will download one from Microsoft as an alternative to one from your manufacturer. Normally W7 does that without problems. the first time you install a device you see on bottom right that it tells you it installed drivers. Normally this works fine. In few cases you need to manually get a manufacturer driver.

since it applies to multiple devices, the culprit is yoru board/USB port. and yes, that information along with OS would have been good in the first posting :)

Acer 4738zg. 'bout my OS. It is Ultimate these last few days because I told my friend to enable some features of win7 not present in Starter and he upgraded it. Since you tell me that 2GB RAM is not suitable for Ultimate, That's a bother..

As HerrKaLuen says mate no such thing as a driverless device, and getting the drivers up to date is most important and is wy I asked for the model because I could only find the motherboard support and it asked for the model of the machine to get drivers.

But getting back to what I said I should expand on the RAM issue the amount you have is considered not enough - generally speaking for an Ultimate version I am not saying it cannot be done but it will make the machine grunt a little working it fairly hard. Besides there is no earthly benefit from having Ultimate if you are not into some high end production programs and most folks are really ok with the Home Premium version even Professional is a tad high end for what I use for example. So I think your friend while having probably good intentions has steered you a little further than you need to go.
If you want to stick with the ultimate I suggest you make the machine up to and at very least 4GB RAM.
These are the drivers you need to update especially the chipset one which I expect will include controllers for the USB ports
