I thought I would throw this little tidbit out there too.

Do not try to bend it back - doing that might break it and make it unusable.
Please post a picture when you get a chance.

I can't think of anything else.

Thanks but I already know. Almost everything I have tried to fix physically has broken even more in the past, so these days I'm too scared to try and fix anything other than on the software side of computers. That's why I don't want to have get a new enclosure if possible.

Also, two side questions,
1. Do utilities like CrystalDiskInfo work on all external drives that support SMART?
2. Is running CHKDSK every month to sometimes every week overkill?(For my system drive, not external)

I know very little about CrystalDisk because I don't use it.

I don't run CHKDSK unless I have a problem.

Their will be other that do it different so I will leave you in the hands of Slartybart.

If you look closely at the exposed part of the connector in the second picture, you can see that the connector is not bent, but the port is pushing it up. I didn't take a picture of the port because the bend is barely noticeable on the port itself anyway.

Also, I could not take a picture of the Micro-USB picture because it was too hard to take a picture of it that showed the shielding wire with it focused correctly.

If it's still working, I wouldn't worry about it. I bent the USB cable end on some laptop portable speakers I have (bad design makes it easy to mistake the cable end for the clamp) and they have been working fine for the past couple, three years. If it's really bugging the snot out of you, you could try using a bad or otherwise expendable USB cable to bend it back; just be prepared to replace the external drive if you do break it (otherwise, don't try it).

Well I won't try to bend it back because of what I said in post 12. So, the only solution would be to replace the drive and replacing the cable would be useless. But I'm just going to agree with Jeannie that I shouldn't worry about it.
