My WD External Hardrive 500 GB isn't detected by Computer

Hello Everyone. So, let me get straight to the point, so my WD External 500 GB Hardrive is detected by my Devices and Printers (its name under Devices and Printers is called Elements 1023) I tried connecting it to a lot of different 2.0 USB ports (I have a 10 Port Hub basically a hub with 10 2.0 USB ports) also when I connect it to a different USB Port, sometimes it starts to install the actual Hardrive to the connected USB Port and sometimes it just connects and it appears in my Devices and Printers and in my Safely remove Hardware and Eject Media. Also, when I open My Computer to see if I can actual access it, It wasn't there. Sometimes when it works and My Computer can detect it the letter for it is H for e.g C is Local Disk e.t.c. I am running a Windows Ultimate 32-bit. I think I have given enough info on this problem. Can Someone please help me? :) Thanks.

Did it ever work perfectly when connected to your 10 port hub?

Did it ever work perfectly when connected directly to a USB port on the PC, not the hub?

Does it now work when connected directly to a USB port on the PC. If no, have you tried ALL of the USB ports on the PC?

Have you used different cables to make the connections?

I just connected the Hardrive to one of the ports in the front of my PC and it worked! Thanks!

    Hi ColossalGamer ,

Most probably your external HDD wasn't getting enough power to work properly. This could often happen if the you're using a USB hub that is not powered.
I hope you don't have any more troubles using your drive in the future.
