UFS choice when burning cd/dvd

Hello fellow forum folk !
I'm looking for some help/advice on a strange issue that I've just encountered.
I recently bought 2 used HP GSA-T20L Lightscribe super multi dvd rewriters, and connected them via usb.
They both read fine, but refuse to write to a blank disk, saying that there is no space left on it.
This is also true of a partly written disk - if a disk contains a 10mb file and I try to add to it, the writer tells me there is no free space of the 10mb disk (it thinks the disk is only 10mb and is therefore full).
Having ruined lots of write once discs, I found an old RW disc and tried to add to that - will the same result.
clutching at straws, I formatted the RW disc and noticed several versions of UFS (2.01 being default) and tried v1.5 as it was the oldest. Result ! The rewriter now allows me to write to this disk. Formatting the disk again to v2 - same winning result. Format again to v2.01 (default) - epic fail again.

My question then, is can I force windows 7 to burn write once cd/dvd using a different version of UFS than the default 2.01?

I normally burn using the windows 'send to' option, but also have Roxio installed.

Here's hoping for fix !

Thanks All

What is "UFS"? A google search didn't turn up anything concerning Windows disc burning.

I have a bank of 5 CD/DVD burners that are USB connected, that I use for Audio CD-R burning. I use Nero BurningROM as it will burn to all 5 drives at one time.

I haven't used Roxio for years but regular burning, not the "drag to disc" UDF burning should allow you to burn either a data or music CD-R. I don't use or recommend the UDF type burning or RW discs as they are unreliable.

UFS stands for universal filing system. Wikipedia has some good info on it.

I didn't see anything except the UDF (Packet Writing) that I referred to. I've been doing support on computer forums since 2002 and this is the first I've heard of "UFS".

Maybe we are referring to the same thing??

But, as noted Packet Writing is the least reliable disc writing method and should be avoided.

If found this, is this what you are referring to?

"UFS Explorer Standard Access is a software application designed exclusively for cases when it's difficult or impossible to access not-damaged data on a physical storage, disk images or virtual disks of virtual machines."
