So if the drive cannnot be used again, I might as well try take the hdd out of it's enclosure and then connect it up to the laptop and see right? Or is the drive not able to function no more and should throw it away?

I would say yes.You can still try the last option if you do not intend to get a warranty replacement - if still under warranty.

I have taken it apart.

I also have the new external 3tb.

1. Any important data that i choose to store on the new external, should i use bootice to save any sectors? Or should i just back any data needed to another drive?

I think i have decided to get rid of the faulty drive. I tried connecting it to desktop but the system froze. So i going to get rid of it.

I would like to thank you for your patience and support Jumanji and others who have helped.

I wouldn't have came this far alone to try out different things.

Yep, you had a good question whether and what sectors of the new drive you should save with bootice

Please connect only your new USB drive, run bootice and show me the screenshot clicking on the Partitions button.

I would also like you post the screenshot of sector 0, which I will keeping for reference. All 3TB drives should theoretically have the same Protective MBR. I want to check on it when I buy a 3TB drive. At the moment I don't have a 3TB drive but intend to buy one.

The protective MBR when lost/corrupted will make a GPT drive unallocated and there is no backup of it in the GPT drive.

Also post the exact model number of the drive you have purchased.

Yep click on the Sector Edit button. You forgot what you did in post#148?

Anyway refresh yourself with this. Run bootice, select your external drive from the drop down arrow and click on Sector Edit. Please see my post here http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/310295-lost-partitions.html#post2584426

Do it slowly after reading the above reference on how to use bootice at your leisure.

I am in no hurry and retiring for the day. I shall see it tomorrow only.
