The normal ideas would be to try the RAM in any adjacent slots you may have to rule out the possibility of bad slots and to run utilities that are designed to identify or test RAM, such as memtest86, Speccy, or CPU-Z.

It may be that you only thought you were buying 16 GB. What brand, model, and size do you think you have? two 8 GB sticks? four 4 GB sticks? Did you buy from a reliable vendor that has return privileges?

Is this a new build---did Windows EVER say you had 16 GB?

    I guess I'll try to run memtest86.

I'm using four 4GB sticks. All of them are corsair.

Yes they used to work long time ago. But I didn't notice why they aren't working now.

    I'd run memtest86.

You say at one time Windows said you had 16 GB.

That points to either bad slots or two bad sticks.

You might be able to remove both sticks from one channel and see if you can boot at all. If you remove the good sticks, it certainly won't boot from the 2 bad sticks/slots.

Those tests are reporting 8GB so you most likely have a slot problem. Try reseating the memory modules and making sure the slots and modules are clean and free of dust. Boot into the BIOS and check to see what's being reported there.

Please use the procedure below for posting files and photos. Not many like to go to off-site links. Some of us block many of them.

Follow the procedure in this Memtest tutorial for checking modules and slots. (Step 3.)
