Hi Sallydally and Welcome to SevenForums

Try going to Lexmark and dl the Vista driver for your printer, make sure the usb cable is unplugged, install the Vista driver in compatibility mode, the plug the usb cable back in the printer. My HP printer was the same way, no Win 7 driver and Vista driver in compat mode worked for me. Hope this helps, let us know.

I had the same problem with my HP 1018. Step by step what I did. Uninstalled old driver, went to HP site, downloaded Vista 64 (Win 7 not available). I saved the drive to my documents, I did not select run. I then go to my documents and right click to install XP mode. I now have a printer. If we have the same problem, follow step by step you should have a printer in 5 minutes.

Log off, shut down and wait a few minutes. If it still is not working, uninstall driver and try to install it agin. Make sure you have the right driver, 64 bit or 32. Make sure you have the right driver for your printer model. Check your USB cable both at computer and printer. Go to Printer and devices, does it show your printer, correct model?

i FINALLY GOT IT.SOMEONE RECOMEND TO unplug the printer first and then right click on it and select Remove Device.

Reboot your computer and then plug your printer back in. If it's a USB printer, it should automatically install with the updated drivers.
than I used the Lexmark disk to install again .
I been messing with this Comp almost all day.Thank You All for all You'r help
