Socket question

If my motherboard uses for example Socket 1155 or 1150... can i take any Processor with the same socket output or does it have to be specific one...

If i go on a Motherboard site and there they write what CPU/Sockets are supported, does it specifically have to be one of those or can i use other ones with same Socket output?

P.S. English isnt my mother language i hope you understood what im asking

I hope I'm understanding your question.

Your motherboard requires a 1156 socket cpu. No other socket will work. Don't try another socket cpu because you will damage the cpu and motherboard.

Note:
Some times when a newer socket 1156 comes out you will have to update the bios to enable the motherboard to except the newer 1156 cpu.

Remember when in doubt read the motherboard manual.

Example:

The Asus Sabertooth Z87 (early models) have to have their bios updated to run A Devil`s Canyon CPU (4690K or 4790K) later models are now shipped with Bios version 2004 and are fine.

So to answer your question, as Jack has stated, No you just can`t put any 1150 socket cpu into an 1150 socket, it has to be compatible, so you have to do some research before you attempt any upgrade.

This goes for any cpu in any socket on any motherboard.

Another classic example is socket 775.

Socket A
I have an old 'socket A' Asus A7V880 motherboard with an AMD Sempron 2600+ chip that I was contemplating upgrading to W7. However, when I run the W7 upgrade advisor on that particular machine I only get a 32 bit result, no reference anywhere to 64 bit. I presume that means that this set of kit...
