Cant remember password on a windows 8 tablet. plz help!!

Hi all. I bought a windows 8 tablet many months ago, set it up, didn't like it so put it in a drawer. Want to give it to a friend but simply cannot remember the password. Is there a way to make it work? I'd appreiciate any help on this since i've spent quite some time entering passwords i thought i'd use but to no avail

    Thanks

    Chris

Since you plan to give it to a friend anyway, check the manual for it and see how to restore it back to factory state. It should reset everything so your friend can then set it up with his/her own password.

Thanks. It didn't come with any instructions, (really jusy a warranty pamphlet) . Wouldn't be able to restore since i can't get passed the login screen. Don't really want to have to go to a shop to fix it

We really can`t help you with passwords, it`s against forum rules. But why isn`t your password something that you would remember ?

    Passwords are nothing but trouble

What make and model is it?

Generally, the factory restore option is initiated via a key combination during boot so doesn't require you to login first.
