Error message " Widows detected a hard disk problem"

Hi,

Recently, an error message "Windows detected a hard disk problem" always pop ups in my monitor.

I have done "Error Checking" also " Defragmentation"...but that error message doesn't disappear.

What should I do?

Thanks a Lot.

That is not a most welcome message.

I would immediately backup the most important personal data and run the DOS version of Manufacturer's Diagnostic Utility. If it passes without any event reported, fine. But if it finds bad sectors and even if it repairs it, be wary. Not to be taken aback by any catastrophic failure that may occur unannounced, always backup all your personal data and also image your system regularly.

Run the DOS version of HDD Manufacturer's Diagnostic Utility and check the health of your drive.

Hello rimutaka!

I would back jumanji up and too say to use the manufacturer's software to check the drive's health.

Doing that and defragmenting it are two different things. You could also perform a SMART test on the drive. Then, please post the results here as screenshots.

The message you have received means that there is most likely an error with the drive that could malfunction your system in one way or another, but the system has had the opportunity to catch it before that. This is the gap in which you can act.

What make and model is the drive? Are you experiencing any problems, lags, performance drops with the drive?

Dear All,

My one is Laptop Toshiba Satelite L750D.

Today, I have a problem. When I boot it up, a warning appeared on screen and asked me to insert a boot disk.

I don't have a boot disk.

Any other options??

Thanks

Perhaps it said that there is no bootable device found? Was the problematic drive the OS one? Do you have another storage device in your PC? (HDD, SSD)

This error would mean that the system can't find the OS drive so it prompts you to insert it or just notifies you it is missing. Reconnect the drive firmly and correctly, change the cables and port. If the message continues, insert your installation media with the installation OS files (disk, USB thumb drive etc.) and see if you could repair the OS installation, as only the bootmanager may be affected.

If this doesn't work, it may be the drive itself. Connect it externally to another system to determine its health status.

Post back to update what happened!
